Loughgall and District Improvement Association Presents
The Secret Gardens of Loughgall
Saturday 7th – Sunday 8th June 2025
Following this highly successful event in June 2022, by popular demand, LADIA is planning to re-run it in the similar form of an ‘open garden’ weekend, on 7th - 8th June 2025.
Loughgall has a thriving horticultural tradition. It is the heart of the Co. Armagh’s commercial apple orchards, it has a centre dedicated to scientific research on growing plants and mushrooms, and just a mile away from the village is the HQ of Northern Ireland’s largest vegetable growing and wholesaling enterprise. The village has won a series of awards in best kept and floral display competitions.
But we’re sure you knew all about this, didn’t you?
Now we have a similar Secret Gardens event to offer. About 20 gardens will be open for visiting from 11.00am - 5.00pm on Saturday, June 7th and 2.00pm - 5.00pm on the afternoon of Sunday, June 8th, 2025.
In the past we held a competition with prizes for the best floral displays visible from the street. We thought it was now time again to showcase some of the fascinating hidden areas and to open up our ‘secret’ gardens again for a couple of days. This is both to raise funds for charities and to celebrate the beauty of our village, unseen as well as seen.
The charities benefitting will be the Loughgall and District Improvement Association, Alzheimer’s Society, Northern Ireland and St Lukes’ Parish Church, Loughgall.
Other attractions:
Refreshments – BBQ’s, teas, strawberries and cream, etc
Plant stall
Apple produce and local honey
Vintage car display
Poultry and goats
Hedgehog rescue
Bric-a-brac and crafts
Music on the street
A hop on/hop off bus service, with guide
Other attractions to follow
Price:
Tickets bought on the day will cost £10.00 per head and will entitle you to visit as many of the gardens as you chose. Each will come with a map and list of gardens. Opened gardens will be identified by a red wellie boot at their entrance, denoting garden number.
Accompanied under-16s will be FREE.
We plan to sell tickets in advance for the reduced price of £7.00, available in the village shop and from Mervyn Walker, who lives on the village main street. What amazing value!
Parking:
Car/bus parking will be possible in the Church Hall car park – includes bus parking (free) in the Country Park (£1.70 concession on showing purchased Secret Gardens ticket – includes bus parking), at RBP headquarters (free for disabled parking only on showing purchased Secret Gardens ticket) and at the opposite end of the village at 45 Old Road (free). Tickets can be purchased on the day from St Luke’s Church Hall, 50 Main Street and 45 Old Road locations.
